Philanthropy
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF)
Reading is Fundamental is our national philanthropy project. Our chapter works hard each year raising money for this cause. We also donate our time volunteering and collecting books.
The goal of RIF is to prepare and motivate children to read by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most. Founded in 1966, RIF is the oldest and largest children's and family non-profit literacy organization in the United States. RIF's highest priority is reaching underserved children from birth to age 8. Through community volunteers in every state and U.S territory, RIF provides 4.5 million children with 16 million new, free books and literacy resources every year. All RIF programs combine three essential elements to foster children's literacy: reading motivation, family and community involvement, and the excitement of choosing free books to keep.

Reading is Key Events
Kappa also holds a "Reading is Key" event each semester. The event consists of three elements:
- A live reading with crafts and activities
- Helps underserved children
- A book distrubtion where each child leaves with a brand new book for them to keep
Kappa Kickball
Each year, the women of Kappa host a kickball tournament in the Worth Hills. TCU sororities and fraternities sign up to play against each other to support our national philanthropy Reading is Fundamental. The day before the tournament Kappa teams up with Potbelly’s and they donate a percentage of the sales from that day to our philanthrophy. Prizes are given to the winner of the tournament and whoever ate the most at potbellys! The entire Kappa chapter comes to cheer on the teams competing in the tournament. Music, decorations and snacks are provided.
Rose McGill Fund
No Kappa sister should suffer in times of financial distress. The Rose McGill Fund, established in 1922, has many programs which give confidential aid to deserving Kappas of all ages who suddenly and unexpectedly find themselves in financial need due to misfortune or illness. The Rose McGill Fund also aids Kappa Alumni. The Fund has three key divisions:
- Confidential Aid: provides financial assistance to alumna members with serious financial need
- Circle Key Grant: provides assistance to alumnae members who wish to pursue part-time educational programs related to career opportunities
- Emergency Grants: grants available to undergraduate members who face sudden financial emergency
TCU and Greek Community
Kappas not only participate in events to raise money and awareness for our local and national philanthropies, we also participate in other sororities' and fraternities' events, as well as TCU events. For example, we participated in Sigma Chi Derby Days, Phi Delta Theta Chili Cookoff, Sigma Phi Epsilon 1901, Pi Kappa Phi Push, Phi Kappa Sigma Phield Day, Delta Tau Delt Bleed Purple, Lambda Chi Alpha Watermelon Bash, Delta Dunkfest, Pi Beta Phi Dodge the Arrow, Kappa Alpha Theta Fall Breakaway, Alpha Delta Pi Blendoff, and TCU events.
